I was recently asked if I use AI in my music and I thought that making a permanent statement would be helpful. AI has some pros and cons, but its capacity to harm humanity or help humanity is uncertain. Personally, I think it’s both fascinating and disconcerting. For answering medical or science questions for people like me, helping advance medical science, or assisting in other sciences or professions, it has some promising applications, but it makes me angry that so much energy is being put towards music, art, etc. Sure, I’ve made a few AI images, but I believe in supporting REAL artists, so most of my songs and albums contain art by real artists that I commissioned and paid for. The exceptions are:

1- on a couple of the pop piano covers like Take on Me, I used free stock art.

2- on a number of songs, I used my own photos (Like Gerudo Valley, Emberwood Theme, Ocean Eyes, etc.

3- I regret to say that I used AI to produce art for a couple of the Christmas songs

My pledge is this:

I will never use AI to create any of the music itself, whether that be the composition or any part of the sound recording. There may be some tools that claim to be “powered by AI” or something like a compression plugin that I might give a chance, but that’s not something involved in the creation of the music, really. Right now, I don’t think I have a single plugin that claims to have anything to do with AI.

I would love to live in a world where AI is used only for good - like in medicine and other sciences, but evidently, we don’t live in the best of timelines. Thank You
